Salad Spinner Painting

We love to paint. We do it almost every week. Usually we paint at the easel or at the table with brushes. But we paint with other things, too.

This week, we tried another "spin" on painting. We used a salad spinner.

Cut paper to fit in the salad spinner. We cut hearts because we were talking about love. But you can use circles or other shapes as you choose.

Put the paper in the spinner. Use a spoon to drop paint onto the paper.

Our paint was a little too thick. It wouldn't drop off the spoon easily. We discovered that if we shook the spoon to get the paint off, we had drops of paint on the table, too. (And I went home with a red spot on my shirt! The hazards of teaching young kids.)

Close the lid. And spin. Spin, spin, spin.

You will need a friend to hold the spinner as you turn it.

Open up the spinner and see the streaked design. Add more paint and spin again, if you choose.

We'll definitely do this again. One girl liked how the paint and writing combined to make purple.

And I'm sure using different colors will create some fun creations.
