It wasn't planned. Well, I did plan. That plan had an unintended result. In fact, I didn't even notice it until the kids were leaving for the day.
We had planned a group of activities that were all process - that is, none of the activities resulted something to take home.
We did have some great activities that engaged 14 kids.
We played in the sand with animals.
We cleaned the house.
We use play dough (and animal cookie cutters).
We worked puzzles (and experimented with mixing the pieces).
We drew on the dry erase boards. (This is a sweater vest.)
Kids worked all over the room, experimenting and playing and learning. And none of these produced anything to take home.
Of course we still had the writing center materials out. Kids could still draw and write...and take them home...if they chose.
Kids didn't take much home in their hands. But they did take home lots of experiences and learning. And that's what I hope would happen.
