Marble Painting with a Friend

An oatmeal container with a lid makes a great tool for marble painting with a friend.

Cut paper to fit inside the container. Drop marbles in paint and add a spoon (for scooping).

There are marbles in those cups of paint. I promise.
Place the paper inside the container. Scoop out the paint-covered marbles and drop them in the container, too.

Put on the lid and ask a friend for help. Roll the container back and forth.

Take out the paper. Let the friend repeat the process and help her roll the container back and forth.

Let the striped paintings dry. Fun stuff!

I like to do marble painting in various ways with my kindergartners. (Here's the giant marble painting we did last year.)

This technique works really well for all ages of preschoolers, especially 2s and 3s since the paint is all contained. When I do this with 2s and younger 3s, I'll wrap a piece of masking tape across the lid for a little extra insurance.

(And because of my sickness I'm excited to reuse and repurpose that oatmeal container! Here's another way to reuse that oatmeal container.)

I've linked this post to other painting ideas on PreK + K Sharing.
