Lids - Usage #1

I've been saving lids for a while. Saving them with no plans for what to do with them. Well, this week I used some of them!

I planned a large board game for the kids to play. I wanted some larger game pieces than I had. And I had some lids to use. I chose lids from Sobe water, since they were larger or wider. I used colored masking tape to cover each one, making four large game pieces.

As you can see, they worked well...a perfect fit for kids' hands.

One of my friends asked, "What is this made of? Is it a lid?"

I really like the way they turned out...and will keep them to use again later. And I was so glad to use some of the lids I've been squirreling away. I hope to use more of them this summer. I'll let you know.

  1. I save things all the time, too, with no idea what I am going to use them for. Something always comes up though, where they are put to use! What was the game you were playing?

  2. Forget the lids, that's a cool game, Scott! I'm totally making one of those next week. This is a little bit of genius if you ask me!

I like that you also use the term "squirreling."

  3. Oh well there you go it just goes to show if you hang onto something for long enough you WILL find a use for them ... hee hee!
    Donna :) :)

  4. I've been saving CD-Roms forever! Since back in the day when AOL would snail-mail them to your house with the program on them! Now that I have a drawer full of them, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with them. They just look so cool. I'm thinking maybe some type of bulletin board, but can't think what it would be for.

  5. Very clever!! Bonus points for recycling... way to go!

  6. Are all teachers hoarders? I believe we are :)

  7. I'm with Christie--yes we're hoarders (but in a good way)

I love the game, Scott! How did you make the gameboard? Definitely want on of those! =)

  8. Lids are an awesome idea! We never run out of them! Hoarding for the good, LOL! There is a method to our madness!
